We are delighted to share the highlights and achievements of the recent INVEST4EXCELLENCE Workshop on Living Labs, which took place on October 4th and 5th at VHL University. This event brought together researchers, experts, and academics from six  universities of the alliance to explore and collaborate on Living Labs and sustainable development.

Event Recap:

The two-day workshop was a resounding success, featuring a diverse range of activities and discussions aimed at advancing the field of INVEST Living Labs. Here are some of the key highlights:

Day 1 (October 4th):

  • The event commenced with a warm welcome at VHL, setting the tone for two days of productive interactions.
  • Participants gained valuable insights into Transition Pathways during an informative session led by Prof. Rik Eweg.
  • The presentation on Dutch Living Labs by Prof. Loes Witteveen, Peter vd Maas, and Rik Eweg provided a comprehensive overview of the state of Living Labs in the Netherlands.
  • Collaborative sub-group sessions allowed participants to contribute to the design of pathways for I4E Living Labs.
  • A visit to the Living Lab Nature Inclusive Farming provided a practical and immersive experience.
  • The day concluded with a reception and buffet, facilitating networking and further discussions.

Day 2 (October 5th):

  • Participants engaged in a hands-on session led by Prof. Loes Witteveen and Jan Fliervoet, exploring essential tools for working in Living Labs.
  • The workshop continued with a kick-off for Deliverable 3.5, focusing on the design of an Inter European University that supports sustainable development of European Regions, led by Prof. Ekaterina Arabska.
  • Deliverable 3.4, addressing the design of an Inter European University supporting sustainable development, was also discussed, led by Dr. Omiros Iatrellis.
